Question regarding mothership

shangyan@iastate.edu

Is mothership required to rendezvous with any stars? I cannot find the requirement in the statement. Does that mean the last impulse of the mothership is not necessary for rendezvous?

There is no requirement for the motherships to rendezvous with any stars. So the last maneuver of a mothership can be used for a purpose of your choice.

Thank you!

Just to clarify this further, the motherships is allowed to rendezvous and settle in a star system once its settlement pods have been ejected, right?

If a Mother Ship does a rendezvous with a star, the star is NOT considered settled. If a Mother Ship does rendezvous with a star, then it must release a Settlement Pod (assuming some are left) at the star in order for that star to be considered settled. The Settlement Pod (SP) in that case does not perform an impulse, therefore if the Mother Ship (MS) wants to then leave the star, it must wait at least 1 Myr post-rendezvous to do the departure manoeuvre. That is, at the star, the timing constraint on the manoeuvres involves only the MS's arrival and departure manoeuvres as there is no SP manoeuvre.
Thanks for the questions!
